Hitachi Power Systems America, Ltd.

Hitachi

Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. awarded Hitachi a contract for the design, supply and erection of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems for Seminole’s coal-fired Units 1 & 2 at the Seminole Generating Station located in Palatka, Florida.

The contract includes the design and supply of SCR systems for the station’s two (2) 650 MW-class coal fired units. The SCR systems being furnished will utilize Hitachi’s state of the art catalyst, offering high NOx removal efficiencies over wide operating load ranges and fuel types. These highly reliable systems are being designed for continuous operation throughout the entire year. Part of the SCR system supply includes a urea-to-ammonia system where a urea solution is converted to gaseous ammonia for the SCR process. This system safely avoids the onsite storage and handling of ammonia. The construction work will span over several years with an expected commencement of January, 2007. The erection portion of the work will be performed by W.W. Gay, a local contractor.
