Hitachi and Ameren Corporation entered into a long-term technology alliance aimed at reducing emissions and improving power generation efficiency and reliability at Ameren’s power generation units. In addition, Hitachi will supply wet flue gas desulphurization (FGD) systems to five of Ameren’s power generation units at its Sioux, Coffeen, and Duck Creek plants.
The companies noted that the technology alliance provides Ameren with access to Hitachi’s breadth of globally proven environmental technologies for controlling fuel emissions, as well as the company’s current R&D activities to meet future emission requirements. Work is in progress for the design and supply of the FGD units at the Sioux plant in St. Charles, Missouri (2-535 MW units), the Coffeen plant in Montgomery County, Illinois (360MW, 590MW units) and the Duck Creek plant (1-444MW unit) in Fulton County, Illinois.
